How We Got Our Start: Borne Out of Disasters, Sustained Out of Transformation
In less than a decade - even less than three years - back-to-back large-scale disasters have resulted in negative consequences for the most vulnerable of our citizens, neighbors, and communities across America. And yet abundant resources of funding, innovative technologies, advanced equipment, and integrated data science are available to transform housing, faith-based institutions, community facilities and infrastructure to assist low-to-moderate income locations achieve 21st century levels of resilience. We know that pre-disaster and risk mitigation have a better than 1:6 return on investment, and yet - with billions of dollars in grants and philanthropic resources - the most vulnerable remain the least fortified from floods, fires, environmental, health, and similar weather- and man-made challenges.
We have launched the Resilience Community Navigator Portal to more efficiently and effectively connect Corporate Philanthropy, Foundations, Donor-Advised Funders, Public Sector Resources, and Boots-on-the Ground to accelerate mutual economic, societal, and financial resilience as underpinning of urgent and long-term resilience.
